Prunus avium Regina - Regina Dark Sweet Cherry

Regina Dark Sweet Cherry

Prunus avium 'Regina'

  • »  Regina is known for its excellent flavor!

Regina(TM) is a new dark sweet cherry bred in Europe and recently introduced to the United States. It is dark red with reddish flesh and sweet tart flavor. The large fruit is exceptionally firm and more crack and split resistant than most sweet cherries. It ripens late in the season about 10-14 days fater Bing and must be pollinated by another late blooming sweet cherry. Not pollen compatible with Van.

Bred in Germany at the Jork Experiment Station, and thus more suitable for areas east of the Mississippi river where rainfall during harvest time causes cracking. Also known as Jork 57/201 cultivar.
