Corail

Malus domestica 'Corail-Pinova cv'

Corail is the common name for the Pinova cultivar of apple introduced many years ago to the US from Germany.  It is a pretty bi-colored apple with high quality and great flavor.  The fruit size in medium and requires good thinning.  The bloom tends to be a shade of lavender.  It is a good keeper and ripens in early to mid-October in Michigan.  Corail can be prone to fire-blight since it can sometimes show open blooms late in the summer and can be infected at that time.  It has gone by many names including Pinata, and Sonata.
