Malus domestica Wickson - Wickson Crabapple

Wickson Crabapple

Malus domestica 'Wickson'

Wickson Crab is a small bi-colored apple that is more crabapple than regular apple, being only a couple inchs in diameter.  It is known for its excellent cider attributes as it has a definite acid tang, but can have sugar content up to almost 25%.  It is highly flavored.  Very hardy.  Useful also for pickling, jam and other culinary uses.

Wickson Crab is a cross of Newtown Pippin and Esopus Spitzenburg that was introduced in 1944 by Albert Etter.
