Poached Pears in Mulled Spiced Wine

Ingredients:
- 6 pears, peeled, cored and cut in half
- 1 bottle sweet red wine
- 1 ¼ cup sugar
- Mulled spices for cider or wine:
- Cinnamon chips, cinnamon sticks cut into pieces
- Orange rind
- Whole cloves
- Whole Allspice
Directions:

Cover and cook on high until pears are "poke tender", about 2 to 3 hours.
Remove pears with slotted spoon to serving bowls over vanilla ice cream and coat with a little mulled spiced wine sauce.
